Hi. For the moment I'm stuck to my bed due to a cold, but I still have my iPad, so I can still manage to draw some. I'm amazed at how primitive and limited it is to draw on the iPad, but it's fun to try and do it as simple as possible, with as few layers as possible.

First post of the month and a lot has been going on. I'm now part of a working gallery in Nørrebro called; =Løgn. I'll post a link to the place as soon as the webpage is up running. So far, I have been painting with oil for three weeks now and I love it. Its a great challenge, but so rewarding to work with. For the moment, I'm taking in a lot of inspiration from Phil Hale, a great artist from London.

I just got struck by inspiration from a woman walking by in the train. I'm glad that I can quickly work something up, now that I got my iPad. Its super primitive to draw on it, but it's good for quick and simple drawings.

Just came home after my fifth Christmas with my lovely girlfriend and her family in Girona. We went for a short walk in the old city at some point and then I saw this super cool back ally. I spent an hour and a half painting this. I noticed after some time that the perspective is all crocked and broken, but its 01.20 in the evening and ill blame the beer. I think that ill have one more go with this picture another day and try to study the picture that I took, some more. So far it will do as a quick study.

Okay... This is my first real attempt to do a self-portrait in acrylic paint. My primary difficult with the process was to get the colors that I wanted and not making it all muddy, which it became. Next step is to go over a ton of mixing studies and do it again.

I helped my brothers band with taking some pictures two days ago. The pictures are taken at a local high school in the area of Nørrebro. The band is called Undergang and they are definitely worth a listen!

Here is stage two on my bakery project. Its still a work in progress, but by now I have been trying out a lot of different technics in achieving the look. I have worked on top of the render in Photoshop to add on a lot of details like the cracks in the walls, the poster and the wallpaper texture. Some of the things would have been easier to do in Maya, but it was fun to try to add it on in Photoshop. Ill most likely shelf this project for a little while for now.

These pages where put into the world at a very nice/hyggelig bar in jægerborgsgade, drawing together with my good pal Mads. The bar looked like somebody took slices of old apartments and them put together and jazzed it up a bit. It's a nice treat to be inspired to draw from good company and cool surroundings.

Good morning all of you. This morning I got a 40 min paint done. Its the latest in a long run of paintings trying the crank out some color work. The composition and overall shaping is a bit tarded, but this fast approach, not doing any thinking before putting down colors, enables me to do this fast paintings. I find that I like this fast approach for the moment, because I would otherwise easily kill an attempt to paint in too much thinking.
The drawing is some days old, when I was sketching while watching tv.

I just came home from an interesting evening with science-slamming. The concept is, six people present their field of science in a short, easy understandable, way and then people vote for their favorite. I think it's a great concept, especially when it's combined with sketching and a cold beer.

Long John Bike

Currently I'm working on building a Long John bike out of an old discarded bike and a lot of scrap metal. At it's present state, it's not much to look at, but with time, it should look like this.

This is a test render, so there is still tons of things I would add to this. Hopefully by next summer, I'll be up and about on this thing, taking it for a ride to Sweden with my lovely girlfriend.

Hi. Since the trip to Annecy this summer, I have been working a bit on a small side-project (beside the fox-project) I was sketching a small, very nice french Boulangerie down in Annecy and when I came home, I started to build it in Maya. I have decided to shelf it a bit, due to too much work at the moment. I quickly rendered out a couple of shots, so that I could show some work in-progress.

There is a lot interior stuff missing, but the main lines for the place have been sketched up so that I know roughly how its going to look. The render is hastily put up, so the front window isn't showing transparency for some bizarre reason. The gods of maya have not seen mercy in my lack of knowledge :(

I just came home to Denmark now after ten wonderfull days in London and Catalonia. On my three hours flight back home to Copenhagen, I listened to Pod-casts about Adobe Lightroom, so the moment I got home, I decided to develop some pictures I have take some time ago. Its a day out with my girlfriend at the art museum; Lousiana, a trip to the building "8 tallet" at Amager and a quick stop by the Zoo. Its my first stab at LightRoom, so many of the pictures might be a bit over-develope in my eagerness to try new things off.

I noticed that some of the pictures is not responding when selected. I think its because I'm working with my blog in Internet explorer right now and it seems to be a bit buggy. Ill uploade the pictures again when im on my on comfortable machine with FireFox/Chrome

With the Easter-break from work, I got some time to go out and draw a bit. First one is from the Old city in Aarhus and the second is from Fregatten Jylland, an old rebuild Danish warship. I also got some time to spend with friends and family and some time to build on my next crazy bike project; a 5m long extra-Long John-bike. Here is my Making-of video for our bachelor production; Captain Awesome. It describes the phases of the production I have been working on, Art- direction, Layout, Background Painting, Animating and poster materials for festivals.
As for now, the fox project is a bit on-hold. The project is intented to be a "between work" project and now that I'm working full time for Happy Flyfish, its been shelved for a while.

Just got some scanning done. I have started to sketch on loose pieces of paper on a clipboard, because it makes me feel more free to just draw, but at the same time it's a big mess to find old drawings... but, I got my desk cleaned and found these

Here is an overview on some of my thought processes, when deciding on the look of the house.
At the same time as establishing the look of the house, I would also try to find the general look of the film.

First off, I found a bunch of references and found out what I liked in each of them. I found that the general theme in the references, is the way that the light binds the picture together. The light becomes a color that fill the image and blends all the color very nicely.

With the reference next to me, I started out painting the first color thumbs. After a while, I was satisfied with the result and started to paint a bigger and more detailed version. Soon I found out that I haven’t done enough research about the look of the surrounding village and the house itself.
I started to do some more thumb-nailing of the village and decided on a look.

The village, I found, is located in a forest at the foothill of a greater system of mountains. I made the terrain slop downwards to the right to show this. This would also make for a more interesting composition. Some trees has been cut down to make room for the village, but some remains and functions as the core element in the houses build around them.

Upon deciding that, I started making more color thumbs. I made a loose line-drawing, duplicated it out and started making different color schemes. I pulled in some more references to look at. After a while, I decided on a thumb and blew it up to ten times seize and started to paint in details.

Looking at the “final” result now, it looks a bit bleached out, but as a starting point, it works quite well I figure. If you have any comments for all these posts about the fox story, please feel free to write me a line

Now I have made the revisited version of the story. As my focus is still on the part I want to storyboard, I think that I'll keep the story at this stage.

The story revolves around a young girl fox, who is going out on a journey to help her father. The young fox lives together with her father and grandparents, in a home dug into a hill, in a small village. Her father is one of the kings trusted advisers, so every two week he flies off to the castle to consult the king.

On day he comes home with the terrible news, that the neighbors of the east has declared war on the kingdom and that he has to go back to support the king. The young fox is terrified what is going to happen to her father and decides to follow him secretly.

Leaving the village behind, she travels through the dense forest, from the village at the foothills of the mountains and into the lowlands of the valleys. In her mind she see herself fighting alongside her father and the king, turning the luck of the war.

She meets a old veteran who has withdrawn to the forest to spend his last days in peace. As she speaks with the old man, he tells the story about how the war is actual a creature who nurtures from hate, fear and anger. The young fox is doubting him, but he gives her a medallion that opens up her eyes and make her see things clear. Through the medallion she finds out that there is a boy on from the other country on the same mission and they connect through the astral planes of the medallion. The young fox hurry to the castle where she tries to convince the king of her knowledge. The creature of war, fights back through the king and the young fox tries to defend herself. The father intervene and safe the young girl by sacrificing himself. From the act of true love, the war creature vanishes and the father wakes from the poisonous stab.

The two kings meets at the front line and signs a peace treaty. The young fox meets the young boy from the other side and they are celebrated as heroes.

Along side with the story, I have made a couple of silhouettes of the young fox and her father. I have also been working on the design of the house and some of the surroundings to get a more clear feeling of the look and feel of it all.

Hi everybody. For some time now, I have been having this scene in my head that I wanted to storyboard. I my effort to make this storyboard, I have found out that there is much more to this story and that it would interesting to explore it more in depth. So for making this storyboard, I have decided to go through the process of making a story, a visual style, character design, environment design, a specific script for the scene and then finally the storyboard.

Ill try to update with process development as often as possible and I'll try to describe the way I work and the thoughts I do. Hope it will be interesting reading and I'm looking forward for digging into this world.

Well. Long time no post. A year has past and now I'm sitting here in my birth town of Aarhus. Its snowing and cold outside and I'm finishing my long ramp in the education system the 28 of Jan. As for now, I have been so lucky to get a freelance job at the company where I did my internship; The Monk Studio. I'm currently involved with doing storyboard for the TV-series; Paddle Pop and its a good learning experience. A couple of week ago, I was thinking about making a small storyboard-ABC of things you don't find in books, but I think I'll hold my horses and wait a bit while I'm still fumbling around myself.

As the graduation comes near, I have decided its time to retire my old business-card and make a brand new. The picture is take from on of my previous paintings; The fox family. Now its time to run out in the world and hand them out with deadly ninja precision.

First things first. On one of the trips I had around in Thailand, where I'm currently staying for my intern ship, I made a small doodle of a temple ruin and it made it all the way to Photoshop. I'm right now in the tedious process of learning the fundamentals of painting in Photoshop and at the same time, trying not to forget all the basic rules/tools of picture making. Status on the development is that I'm trying out brushes, so that the painting will look painted and not completely smudged. A good inspiration for some awesome brushwork can be found on the cgtalk threat: Sergey Kolesov. Underneath are some development-screen grab to show some of the steps I follow when painting. Have just decided to make an update to my blogging structure. I have moved my portfolio and show-reel to Andreashusballeportfolio.blogspot.com From now on, that blog will only be updated when I pass some milestones (hopefully, I'll be updating it soon then) This blog, the current one, will be devoted to everyday drawings, scribbles, paintings and random thoughts.
